Emily gave a sigh of relief as she closed her work laptop, grateful it was Friday. She laughed as she heard her co-worker, Dave, give a grunt into the workspace.
“Thank GOD it’s Friday!” he sighed, his voice loud and echoing. He stood up, his head visible above the divider. “Let me guess – another game tonight?”
Emily laughed. “Yeah. We’re about to enter the human city to figure out what’s been happening with the Royal family.”
Dave shook his head, his arm leaning on the divider. “You do realize that you need a better hobby. Meeting people online for a game just seems wrong.”
Emily rolled her eyes, grabbing her purse and jacket.
“We’ve discussed meeting in person, but a few of them are across the country,” she replied, putting her jacket on. She looked up at Dave mischieviously. “Do you have friends in L.A.?”
Dave laughed, shaking his head. “You got me there. I have no friends in L.A.”
“Then I believe I beat you on that front,” Emily laughed, patting his shoulder. “Actually, I’ll be meeting Sophia tomorrow to check in on her. There’s a new doctor who’s coming in from Seattle to check on her case.”
Dave sobered quickly. “That’s good. Has he said anything on her prognosis?” he asked, knowing Sophia was one of Emily’s closest friends.
Emily shrugged. “He said he’s had good progress in his study. He’s hopeful. In any case, we’re hoping she’ll be able to go home for a bit on Sunday, anyway.”
Dave smiled. “I’m glad for that. Alright, I’ll let you have this round…but mark my words,” he said, shaking a finger in her face. “I’ll get you out to party and meet actual friends in person.”
Emily smiled, following Dave out of the museum. “I’m sure Sophia would love that.”

Story is in progress. This WILL be edited. I’m just introducing the ONE book that will be COMPLETELY free on this website. I’ve been working on the story plot for about eight years. It’s about time I actually put the story into words. 🙂
